Lady Wildcats at home vs conference rival Lady Comets of Mackinaw City.

Winding down conference play for the season against the conference powerhouse.

Wednesday, October 5th

The Junior Varsity Lady Wildcats started the night off against the rival Lady Comets. In the first set Mackinaw served first but the Wildcats got a side out quick. Unfortunately, Wolverine turned it back over to Mackinaw on their first serve. Lady Comets took off from there and open up a lead that the Lady Wildcats could not recover from. Mackinaw won the set 25-5 taking the 1-0 lead in the three set match. In the second set, The Lady Wildcats tried to push a little harder and they were able to hang in and score 11 points before Mackinaw won the set 25-11. Match now 2-0. The third and final set was the Lady Wildcats last opportunity to win a set. Wolverine was able to get a quick side out and take control to serve up some points. Mackinaw regained control and ran the score to 3-7 before a side out in favor of Wolverine made the score 4-7. Mackinaw forced another side out making the score now 4-8. Lady Comets scored just one point before the serve returned back to the Lady Wildcats, score 5-9. Wolverine put up one put before a side out sent the serve back to the Mackinaw side, score 6-10. Lady Wildcats needed to rally and soon if they wanted to stop Mackinaw from winning the match in a sweep. Mackinaw was only able to score one point again before the serve returned to Wolverine, score 7-11. Lady Wildcats needed a run on serves and good backup on the court and they received it. Wolverine took the score to 14-12 when Mackinaw regained the serve. For the first time all night Mackinaw now had pressure on them. Lady Wildcats held and won the set 15-12.

The Varsity Lady Wildcats next had to go to work if they were going to push the Lady Comets on this night. In the first set the Lady Wildcats got off to a slow start and fell 4-25. The second set Mackinaw kept up their intensity but the Wolverine did put up a fight and scored 10 points. Set score 10-25. Match 2-0. The Lady Wildcats needed to regroup and rally if they were going to stop Mackinaw from sweeping them on this night. Third set the Lady Wildcats played some impressive volleys but were just no match for the Lady Comets. Set score 7-25, Mackinaw swept the match 3-0.

Lady Wildcats are on the road again Friday October 7th at Atlanta with a 6pm JV start.
