Lady Wildcats at Hale, vs Hale Eagles.
Lady Wildcats finishing up the regular season with the last JV game and next to last Varsity game of the regular season.
Lady Wildcats make the trip to Hale to play the third North Star League opponent this season, Atlanta and Fairview were the other North Star teams.
In the JV game the Lady Wildcats, after a long break while the gym was not available and no contests, showed signs of rust. The Eagles on the other hand were ready to play and took advantage of the Lady Wildcats slow start. In the first set Wolverine only scored 5 and Hale scored 25. In the second set, the Lady Wildcats started to communicate better but the Eagles had momentum on their side and won the volleys most of the time resulting in another Eagles win 25-5. Eagles now had a match score of 2-0 and the Lady Cats needed to really bring if they wanted to stop the sweep. In the third set Lady Wildcats were able to challenge the Eagles more. Unfortunately, the Eagles were still able to better our Lady Wildcats and won the final set. Wildcats 9 - 15 Eagles, match 3-0 Eagles.
In the Varsity match, the Lady Wildcats were excited to play a new team. In the first set, the Lady Wildcats exchanged some good volleys with the home team. The Eagles had a home town crowd that really got behind them and rallied past our Lady Wildcats and win the first set, Wildcats 9 - 25 Eagles. Second set, Lady Wildcats started to gain some momentum and really pushed the Eagles to dig deep to stop them. The Eagles bounced back and won the set, Wildcats 19 - 25 Eagles. Third set, Lady Wildcats needed a win or they would be going home early. The Eagles were not going to make it easy with the first server putting 6 point on the board. Wildcats tried to answer but were only able to take the score to 4-6, before the Eagles regained the serve. The Eagles again piled on 4 more points, taking the score to, Eagles 11 - 6 Wildcats. Wildcats fought back the best they could and run the score to 14 Wildcats to 20 Eagles before the Eagles put two more points up making the score, Wildcats 15 - 22 Eagles. After a great volley exchange the Eagles took the service back and finished the game with the last two points. Final score, Wildcats 15 - 25 Eagles. Eagles swept the match 3-0.
Varsity Lady Wildcats play Wednesday, October 26th at Vanderbilt to finish the regular season with parents’ night.
